PDP legislator from north Kashmir’s Karnah assembly segment Raja Manzoor Wednesday said that his area is still dependent on Pakistan for irrigating agriculture land.

“I am seeking water from Pakistan to irrigate agriculture land of people in my constituency,” Manzoor informed the Lower House today while speaking during the Discussion and Voting of the demands for Grants for Agriculture Production, Horticulture and Cooperative departments.

The legislator raised lack of irrigation facilities in his Assembly segment. The MLA demanded that Government should intervene to address the problem faced by the people in his far-flung tehsil.

Manzoor said that his area is lacking in other facilities also. He said that cooperatives building was promised to the area but has not been constructed yet.

On Tuesday, Javaid Murchil, Member of Legislative Council had in Upper House said that the Dahni Sadpora village in Karnah tehsil is still dependent on Pakistan for irrigating its agriculture land.

“Every year, poor farmers from the village collect money in a handkerchief and throw it to the other side so that water for irrigation is supplied to them,” the PDP legislator had said. (KNS)
