After reaching Srinagar from New Delhi, independent lawmaker representing Langate constituency in state legislature, Er Rashid, Thursday said that his blackened clothes are actually “shroud of Indian claims of tolerance and secularism”.
Addressing a press conference here, Rashid, who was attacked by communal Hindu goons in New Delhi a few days ago said, “the ink attack on me shows how intolerant the Indian state is; those who are saying that the attackers are fringe elements are lying.” While waving his blackened Kurta-Payjama, Rashid said, “the radical elements have taken over the Indian state.”
Rashid had organized a beef party in MLA hostel here after which he faced a murderous attack in lower house of state legislature. He was in New Delhi recently to visit Udhampur attack victims after which he addressed a press conference where he was attacked by communal goons. He was accompanied by brother of Showkat and Zahid’s brother- the duo injured in Udhampur communal attack.
Paying tributes to Bijbehara slain persons, Rashid trained his guns at PDP saying, “it is because of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who brought such elements (communal) to J&K.”
Reiterating his earlier statement, Rashid said, “these people are proving (Ali Muhammad) Jinnah Sahab’s Two Nation Theory right.”
Replying to a question that ruling coalition partner, PDP alleged Rashid is responsible for death of Zahid Rasool Bhat, he said, “Kaar-Ray Bud Khud Karay – Laanat Karay Shaitaan Par.”
While lashing out at Narendra Modi led Union government, Rashid said, “those who say that eating beef is interfering in their religious affairs should see the present situation of Kashmir when mourners are allowed to take out Muharram processions.” “Mirwaiz is not allowed to offer Eid prayers, others are barred from Friday prayers and world should come to know who is now interfering in whose religious affairs.” “They are the people who are responsible for Shia-Sunni divide.”
Taking a dig at ruling PDP, the Langate legislator said, “why are they (PDP) blaming me, they should reply to their own MP (Tariq Hamid Karra). He is not lying.” “Voices are coming out of PDP itself that they committed mistake by joining hands with BJP.”
He further said, “PDP is now saying that no world power can stop them from eating beef. When an MLA is attacked for eating beef how can a common man eat it?”
Rashid also said, “the beef exports of India have risen since Modi took over Indian regime.” “The army (in Kashmir) killed thousands of cows.”
“I was attacked two times in the Press Club and my motive of protesting outside the residence of PM Modi was to tell him to see India through my inked eyes,” Rashid said. “Why did they attack kins of slain Zahid and injured Showkat?” Rashid asked.
When asked about his interview to a Chennai based daily, Rashid refused to accept the parts of the conversation. “I have not said that Hurriyat is baying for my blood. Why should I say this? I am ready to follow any one who talks of Kashmiris.”
Further, relying to another question, Rashid said, “I have not encroached up on anyone’s space.” “If any one traces me or abuses me, I have no issues with it.”
