SRINAGAR: A mysterious explosion shook a village in Kathua district forcing the security agencies to launch a massive search operation in Hiranagar area and its adjoining villages.
Quoting official sources news agency KNO reported that a big-bang was heard near a temple located in Jandi village of Kathua district after which police and other forces rushed to the spot. “Entire area has been cordoned off while senior police officers have reached the spot,” officials said.
“The nature of the explosion is mysterious as of now. We are ascertaining the nature of the explosion as some reports suggest it was a grenade blast,” a police source said.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Mukesh Singh while confirming the incident said that a mysterious explosion took place near the religious place and searches are going on.
“Exact nature of explosion can be known once investigations are completed,” he said.
