SRINAGAR

Director General of Police, Ashok Prasad Monday said that the group of militants involved in the attack on CISF personnel is the similar group which carried an attack in Hari Singh High Street in June this year.

“Initial investigations have revealed that the militants involved in today’s attack near Naz Cinema had come from North Kashmir’s Sopora town and there is maximum possibility that they would have fled from the Srinagar city soon after carrying the attack on CISF personnel,” Prasad told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS adding that some militants may be present in Srinagar and its adjacent areas.

DGP said that police had information that some militants from Sopore have managed their entry into Srinagar. “It was most probably these militants who carried out today’s attack,” Prasad said.

He told CNS that militants used the same weapon, which was used in killing policemen near Hari Singh High Street attack this year in June. “Same group is operating in Srinagar and we hopefully would bust this group in coming days,” Prasad said adding that militants strike in Srinagar city to show their presence here.
