In a State Council meeting of J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides today, Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar was unanimously elected as “President of the Social Voluntary Movement”,

The Minister along with other elected office-bearers viz Vice Presidents and State Chief Commissioner took the formal oath and assured that they will work with dedication and devotion towards strengthening and streamlining this global movement.

Speaking on the occasion, the newly elected President Naeem Akhtar said that informal education is as important as formal education in building healthy society by institutionalizing the tremendous capacity of young Scouts & Guides. He said the movement plays commendable role to harness and translate energy of scouts and guides into action for socially accepted objectives, an official statement said.

The Minister impressed upon the volunteers of the organization to put in their best to keep the torch of this movement afloat so that its message reaches every corner of the State.

He spoke in length about the measures to be taken for improving the education system in the State. He said that the government’s agenda is to provide quality education to the students and various reforms are in pipeline in this regard.
