SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spojkesperson in a statement said, “In Awantipora, a police team from Police Station Pampore, at a checkpoint established at Kadlabal Pampore, intercepted a vehicle (Swift) bearing registration number JK01AU-2964 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Wani, resident of Sumurbugh New Colony; Mukhtar Ahmad Mir, resident of Dooru Mirmaidan, Anantnag; and Javid Ahmad Kawa, resident of Sumurbugh New Colony.”
“During the search, officers recovered 290 grams of a charas-like substance and cash amounting to Rs 97,500 (proceeds of narcotic crime) from their possession. They have been arrested, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Police Station Pampore,” the statement reads.
In Kupwara, a police team from Police Station Kralpora, during routine naka checking at Khazan Mati, Kralpora, intercepted a suspicious person identified as Muneer Ahmad Lone, resident of Kralpora. “During his personal search, a cannabis-like substance (apparently charas) was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested, and a case has been registered at Police Station Kralpora under FIR under relevant sections of the law.”
