Addressing the Legislative Assembly, Kaloo said that the National Conference owes its existence to Article 370 and criticised the BJP for failing to oppose its revocation. “Not a single BJP MLA raised a voice against it as to why they threw out the Kashmiri people,” he remarked.

Kaloo also recalled historical grievances, including the removal of the Election Commission from local control and the transformation of the last Sadr-i-Riyasat, Karan Singh, into a Governor, emphasising that these actions contributed to the political marginalisation of the region.

He criticised the BJP for inaction on issues affecting Kashmiri businessmen and labourers, stating that the party claims to oppose discrimination yet has taken no measures to protect citizens.

On education, Kaloo highlighted the establishment of a Degree College in Pahalgam, noting that until recently the constituency of 1.25 lakh people had no such institution. He commended Chief Minister Sakeena Itoo and other officials for making the college functional.

Kaloo also drew attention to budget allocations for tourism in the region, describing them as significant and supportive of local development.

The MLA concluded by emphasising the National Conference’s continued role in upholding Assembly institutions and serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
