The National Lok Adalats were organized in various districts of Kashmir Division, by the respective District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) on Saturday, for amicable settlement of cases of different nature.
IN SRINAGAR, the National Lok Adalat was held in District Court Complex, Moominabad, Srinagar which was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, Abdul Rashid Malik.
The National Lok Adalat took up civil, bank recovery, labour dispute, matrimonial, insurance and consumer claim, criminal compound offences, electricity and water bills and MACT cases for settlement.
As many as5809 cases were taken up for amicable settlement, by eight benches constituted for this purpose. Out of these 3932 cases were settled and Rs 76,30,000 were awarded as compensation by MACT Srinagar while Rs 14, 49,100were collected as a settlement amount. Besides, a fine of Rs 14, 88,100 was also collected.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik said that the aim of holding LokAdalats is to reduce the pendency of cases in various courts and to ensure early delivery of justice.
IN SHOPIAN, the DLSA, Shopian organized a National Lok Adalat in which 893 cases of different nature were taken up by ten benches for an amicable settlement, out of which 721 cases were settled.
An Amount of Rs 50,068 was recovered as fine and Rs 3,47,000 recovered from the defaulters in bank recovery cases. Besides, an amount of Rs 31,00,000 was also realized in other cases.
IN PULWAMA, 350 cases of different nature were taken up in the National Lok Adalat organized by DLSA, Pulwama, out of which 240 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 23,900 realized as fine. Besides, Rs 33,80,900 has been settled in bank recovery and MACT cases.
Similar LokAdalats were also held at Sub-ordinate courts in the district which were presided over by the respective Chairmen of Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
IN ANANTNAG, 197 cases of different natures were taken up, out of which 127 cases including 60 traffic challans were settled amicably during the National Lok Adalat organized by the District Legal Services Authority, Anantnag.
A compensation of Rs. 10,38,500 under MACT, Rs.22,000 under traffic challans, Rs. 80,000 under NAC and Rs 4,80,000 under civil cases were sanctioned during the Lok Adalat.
IN KUPWARA, District Legal Services Authority, Kupwara organized a National Lok-Adalat in the district.
As many as 402 cases were taken for amicable settlement by eight benches, out of which, 119 cases were disposed and an amount of Rs56 lakh recovered in Bank recovery, MACT and traffic violation cases.
IN GANDERBAL, District Legal Services Authority, Ganderbal, today organized a National LokAdalatat District Court Complex Ganderbal.
The LokAdalattook up 95 cases, out of which 59 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 4,92,000was realized.
IN KULGAM, a National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex Kulgam.
In the National Lok Adalat 48 cases related to Bank recovery, MACT, labour dispute, family dispute and municipal cases were taken up by four benches. Out of these, 24 cases were amicably settled and an amount of Rs.4,00,000 was sanctioned in favour of victims in MACT cases. Besides, Rs.1,10,713was realized in electricity & water bills cases while a number of Rs 5,100 were imposed as fine in criminal R.P.C and traffic challans.
