Navjot Singh Sidhu Meets Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar, Hails Him as ‘Secular Voice of Kashmir’

   

SRINAGAR: Former cricketer, television personality and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday met National Conference President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah at his residence in Srinagar, describing him as a towering figure in Indian politics and a secular voice of the people of Kashmir.

Following the meeting, Sidhu said he had thanked Abdullah for facilitating his visit to Kashmir. Sharing details of the interaction on social media, he said: “Met Farooq Abdullah Saheb at his residence and thanked him for facilitating our trip.”

Sidhu praised the veteran National Conference leader’s political stature, calling him “a colossus of Indian politics”, and commended what he described as Abdullah’s willingness to speak candidly on public issues.

The Congress leader further referred to Abdullah as “a genuinely secular voice of the people of Kashmir”, remarks that come amid ongoing political discussions concerning Jammu and Kashmir’s future and inter-community relations.

The meeting assumes significance as political engagement and dialogue continue to shape public discourse in the Union Territory.

Sidhu’s visit and his comments are likely to attract attention across political circles given the prominence of both leaders in national and regional politics.
