SRINAGAR

National Conference candidate for Pattan constituency, Aga Mehmood Monday termed those reports based which claimed that Shopkeepers in Pattan observed shutdown against the demolition of residential house of independent candidate Abdul Rashid Shaheen.

Mehmood told CNS that Shopkeepers were forced to shut their shops while transporters plying on the roads were stoned by a group of supporters of Abdul Rashid Shaheen. “On the behest of Shaheen, some of his supporters armed with sticks and rods enforced a shutdown in Pattan when Srinagar Development Authority dismantled Shaheen’s ‘illegal’ residential house in Srinagar,” Mehmood alleged.

He said that, “Shaheen and his supporters acted like goon and forcibly while entering into a Masjid used its public address system and asked people to observed shutdown.” Aga Syed Mehmood said that he has already lodged a complaint before the Chief Electoral officer in this regard and is hopeful that action under rules would be initiated against former Member Parliament Abdul Rashid Shaheen.
