NC Activist’s Death: ‘NC Should Take Lesson,’ Geelani, Demands Disbanding VDCs

Strongly condemning the brutal murder of National Confernec activist, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Chowdhary, at the hands of a VDC member at Kalakoot area of the Rajouri district, Chairperson All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani Monday alleged that besides the “army and paramilitary forces, India has created an another organized state terrorist force in Kashmir in the name of Village Defence Committee (VDC) and this terrorist force is directly controlled by the Indian home ministry”.

Reiterating his old demand of disbanding and disarming of the killer VDC forces, Geelani said, “this force has been created to suppress the Jammu Muslims and there is no accountability system present in the state to check-in the atrocities and cruelties of these government terrorists.”

Terming the Rajouri incident as heart breaking and intolerable, Geelani said, “the Muslim identity of any Kashmiri irrespective of his political affiliations and beliefs is considered as a big crime and in front of the communal forces, the punishment of this crime is not less than the death penalty.”

Demanding immediate investigation in the said incident and stern punishment to the culprit, the pro-freedom leader said, “this episode has created a sense of fear in the entire Rajouri and Jammu division and the Muslims of this region are very much concerned about their safety. There are 28 thousand VDC terrorists active in the Jammu division and most of them are professional criminals involved in the many grave crimes like murders, robbery, rapes, drug trade and other serious crimes. These people consider themselves above the law and the state government has no control over their activities. This force is directly handled by the Indian secret agencies and the home ministry of Delhi and on their directions these criminals are harassing the Muslims in every possible ways.”

“The Rajouri incident is an open lesson for the National Conference (NC) itself which in their regime were defending these forces and were hiding their crimes against the Muslims of that region. They (NC) should understand that their treachery can do nothing good for them and one day the very communal elements will have no mercy for them too,” Geelani said.
