While expressing solidarity with the family of slain NC youth activist, Muhammad Ishtiyaq Chowdhary, Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) (J&K) Tuesday demanded exemplary punishment for the Village Defence Committee (VDC) member (VDM) who has allegedly killed the youth.
In a statement to KNS, JeI spokesperson said that the VDC member and other persons involved in the killing of Ishtiyaq should be fairly dealt by justice and awarded an exemplary punishment.
“An international commission should investigate those people who are shielding the VDC, member and others,” the JeI statement said.
Expressing sorrow over the killing, the JeI statement criticized National Conference for playing politics over the killing.
“The VDC member was created by NC in Jammu region and in Valley pro government gun men were created by them who killed hundreds of innocent people here,” the statement added. “It is regrettable that the same party is now protesting against the VDCs.”
