NC-Congress Alliance Taking Off In Ramban

SRINAGAR: The National Conference and Congress party are stitching an alliance to form the District Development Council Chairman and Vice-Chairman posts in Ramban district of Jammu region’s Chenab valley

The information was divulged by National Conference District President Ramban Sajad Shaheen through his officials Twitter handle.

He claimed that the two former allies have joined hands to keep the Bharatiya Janata Party at bay.

“JKNC & Congress joined hands to form District Development Council in Ramban for the holistic development of all the areas in the District and pledged to thwart BJP and its proxies divisive and communal agenda & preserve the communal harmony in the district,”  Shaheen wrote on Twitter.

The tweet was later shared by the official Twitter handle of the NC as well.

Pertinently, the NC and Congress have six and two seats respectively in the 14 DDC members in the district taking them to the majority of 8 seats required to lead the district.

The Bharatiya Janata Party which had won one assembly segment out of three in the district in 2014, could manage to win just two DDC segments this time around. The other three have gone to independent candidates.

The NC fought these elections under the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration banner of which the Congress wasn’t apart.

As per leaders in both parties, a similar arrangement between the duo is expected in other adjoining areas.
