Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday said the National Conference and Congress have been rejected by the people from Karnah to Kathua, because of their misdeeds, inefficiency and corrupt practices, which was rampant in the State during the past six years.

“If this year’s Lok Sabha elections and first three phases of ongoing assembly polls are any indicator both NC and Congress are facing rout and PDP because of its pragmatic and visionary agenda has become the first choice of the people,” she said while addressing various roadside meetings in Shangus constituency of South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, the PDP candidate for Shangus assembly constituency was also present on the occasion.

Mehbooba said PDP has performed well in the first three phases of ongoing elections and the party is confident of repeating its performance in the remaining two phases as well. She said there is a pro-PDP wave sweeping the state and the party is thankful to the people for reposing their faith and trust in the party’s leadership and pragmatic agenda. “I also compliment the PDP cadres for effectively taking the party’s agenda to the grassroots level,” she said.

Mehbooba said the downfall of National Conference and Congress in Jammu and Kashmir though can be attributed to various factors but the way two parties made the people suffer by presiding over the most corrupt, inefficient and insensitive system of governance during past six years has not only disillusioned the people but changed the political discourse on the ground. “After having got enough chances to serve the state, the two parties wasted six years of the people and exposed themselves by way of their sheer callousness, corruption and crimes which they did with all impunity,” she said.

The PDP Chief said whether it is Shopian rape and double-murder case in 2009; 2010 summer killings; Haji Yousuf’s death involving Omar Abbdullah’s residence; hanging of Mohammad Afzal Guru; scams like cricket scandal; drug scam; PHE scam; land grabbing; BOPEE scandal; backdoor appointments; use of oppressive methods like PSAs, FIRs, lethal weapons against the youth; mismanagement in relief materials for the flood affected people and host of other offences, the report card of the coalition government has nothing in it to impress the electorate.

Mehbooba said to hide its failures the National Conference is again selling the dreams of Autonomy and safeguarding the Article 370 which they have sold many times in the past to remain in power. The Congress is now criticizing Omar Abdullah for coalition government’s disastrous performance after having sustained him for the last six years. “By selling the dream of autonomy NC leadership has made enough fortunes and enjoyed a lot of power till now and they are again trying to do so in order to gain public sympathy,” she said.
