Day after State Congress sought AICC president and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s intervention into the controversial “nominations’’ in the newly elected Kargil Autonomous Hill Development Council by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, National Conference on Sunday decided not to claim for the formation of the council and hinted of revoking the nominations of the two of its members to allow congress to stake the claim for the formation of the council. Earlier the oath ceremony of the council was postponed on Saturday due to the differences between the two allies over the nominations made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah  National Conference Patron and Union Minster Dr. Farooq Abdullah while expressing his displeasure over the developments said that the internal rift in the National Conference allowed congress to take lead in the KAHDC polls, but insisted that his party would not become an impediment for its ally to stake the claim for the chairmanship of the council.

“We must accept the verdict of people and should not create problems for our ally to form the new council.” Dr. Farooq Abdullah said in his address at Naseem Bagh Srinagar on the occasion of the death anniversary of his father and founder of National Conference Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.

Without naming anyone, senior Abdullah warned his party colleagues of creating ‘wedge’ in the party and said that the internal bickering was harming the party.
“There are people in Delhi and in the state who are conspiring against National Conference, and now the internal differences are also harming the party. We must stand together to fight these elements who are working against National Conference” Abdullah said.

While appreciating his Son and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s stint as CM, Farooq said that Omar has done commendable service to the nation and the people of the state and asked people to get ready for the elections.

“Omar has done excellent. The elections are drawing near, so get ready for polls and elect only those who have a clean image,” Senior Abdullah said.

According to KNS, NC Patron lashed out at PDP and its patron Mufti Mohammad Sayed and said that the party (PDP) was formed with the only purpose of weakening the National Conference in the state. “they are meant for the negative politics and that is exactly what they are doing in the state.” Farooq said with an apparent reference to PDP.
