Patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today regretted that the present regime headed by Omar Abdullah has reversed the process of peace and balanced development, which was initiated by the previous PDP-Congress regime in the State.

As per a statement the PDP patron was addressing a public meeting at Mahore this afternoon, where he reminded the gathering that during the PDP-Congress regime a comprehensive policy was devised for the overall development of backward areas and special attention was paid to the neglected areas like Mahore, Gulabgarh and Gool. He has said, “Not only neglected areas were brought on the developmental maps but a sense of security was also restored among the inhabitants of such areas, who were virtually sandwiched between two guns before formation of PDP-Congress government in the State.”

“Before 2002 there was total chaos and confusion in the state and the common masses were gripped with fear psychosis”, he reminded, adding, “Those who were at the helm of the affairs before 2002 had deliberately created an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear only to accomplish their nefarious designs.”

Mufti has also reminded that PDP led government had pioneered and implemented peace and reconciliatory policies which yielded very encouraging results all over the State.  “It was result of the pro-peace policies of PDP led government that residents of far-flung areas like Mahore got a big relief because their dignity and honoured were restored by their stopping unnecessary harassment”, he said.

While recalling that PDP was formed in the year 1999 with the aim to restore and uphold the dignity and honour of the every resident of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti has said, “In our tenure we carved out a new path of peace and development in the State.” And added that his party has scripted a new chapter of peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir and has changed political discourage of Jammu and Kashmir through its conviction and commitment.

He has also said that PDP during its tenure had proved to how to deliver good govern and how to establish transparency and accountability in the governance. “I don’t want to praise myself but people of the state now comparing our achievements with the decades long mis-governance of successive National Conference regimes”, he has said and added that PDP-Congress regime in the State had established a system of governance which earned credibility and acceptability of the common masses.

“Although we had just 16 members in the Assembly, our party had convinced successive governments at Delhi, through our convictions, to initiate some bold Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) to restore lasting peace in this region”, he has said.

Responding to the demands of the locals, he reminded that it was during the PDP-Congress regime long pending demand of the people of Mahore of construction Tuli-Bana road was fulfilled. “During our regime funds were sanctioned for completion of this road”, he said and added that new initiates were taken during that period to improve infrastructure in all sectors including health, education and road connectivity.
