SRINAGAR: Senior National Conference (NC) leader Dr Syed Mohammad Shafi of Khiram Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district passed away on Friday morning.
“Started the day with the terrible news of the passing of Shafi who we all called Doctor more out of affection than anything else. He & I have been colleagues since 1998 in our Youth National Conference days. He was a sincere grassroots worker of the party & I will miss him,” NC Vice President Omar Abdullah tweeted.
“I send my heartfelt condolences to Sabah & the rest of the family. May Allah grant Shafi the highest place in Jannat & all of his loved ones fortitude. Farewell & God speed Dr Shafi,” Omar tweeted.

NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar while paying tributes to Shafi said, “In his passing away I have lost a great party colleague and a friend with whom I worked since 1975. Shafi tirelessly worked for party with all his sincerity and dedication.”
