SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked a ruling National Conference MLA and party spokesperson following a complaint by a police personnel associated with the Security Wing of J&K Police and deployed as the MLA’s Personal Security Officer (PSO), sources said.
They said that, according to the written complaint submitted by the police personnel, Altaf Ahmad Wani alias Altaf Kaloo, the sitting NC MLA from the Pahalgam Assembly constituency of Anantnag district, and party spokesperson Umesh Bhat alias Umesh Talashi allegedly assaulted him while he was discharging his duties as part of the MLA’s security detail.
According to sources, the complainant alleged that an altercation took place, following which he was allegedly beaten by the MLA and the party spokesperson.
The police personnel further alleged that he sustained injuries in the incident and approached the authorities with a written complaint seeking action, sources said.
Police subsequently registered a case under FIR No. 332 under relevant sections of BNS against the two accused based on the complaint. Further investigation into the matter is underway, sources said.
Altaf Ahmad Wani is the sitting MLA from the Pahalgam Assembly constituency while Umesh Talashi is associated with the party as an additional spokesperson. (KDC)
