SRINAGAR: National Conference leader and sitting Member Parliament’s (MP’s) son from North Kashmir, was Tuesday formally arrested by Bandipora Police under Unlawful Activities Act (ULA) for delivering ‘hate speech’ in a public rally during DDC elections.
Hilal Akbar Lone, the son of MP Akbar Lone, was formally arrested from MLA hostel in Srinagar and subsequently detained at Police Station Hajin on Monday after he was booked by the police.
A police official told news agency KDC that Hilal Akbar was booked under FIR number 02/2021 under sections 153 A/ 188/ 505 IPC 13 of Unlawful Activities registered in Police Station Hajin.
He said that Hilal was booked for delivering ‘hate speech’ during a DDC election rally last year adding that he has been formally arrested by Police in this regard.
He will be produced before the court for judicial remand today, he added.
Earlier, Hilal was detained and shifted by police to MLA hostel on December 25 last year.
