SRINAGAR: The leadership of the National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is all set to attend the inaugural meeting of the 14-member coordination committee of the opposition alliance, INDIA, on Wednesday.

Leaders from both regional parties, NC and PDP, have stated that their respective party leadership will attend the meeting tomorrow, where a range of issues will be discussed. The meeting is scheduled to be held on Wednesday at the residence of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar in New Delhi.

The former chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, NC Vice President Omar Abdullah, and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti will be in attendance at the meeting.

Notably, Omar and Mehbooba have been appointed as members of the coordination committee and the election strategy committee of the INDIA alliance, a coalition of opposition parties.

Tanvir Sadiq, Chief Spokesperson of the National Conference (NC), said that the meeting is of utmost importance, and the party’s leadership is fully committed to attending it.

“We are going to attend the meeting,” Sadiq said, adding that while there are many issues to be discussed, there is currently no specific agenda for the meeting, and any matters raised during the meeting will be made public accordingly.

Najam-u-Saqib, Spokesman for the PDP, stated that the alliance has a clear objective of fighting for the soul of India. He noted that through a series of meetings, a sense of camaraderie has developed among the leaders, and there is a consensus that a common fight and determination exist to preserve India’s constitution.

“As the meetings have progressed, an understanding has developed on how to smoothly navigate the elections and distribute seats among the parties,” he explained.

He further revealed that the party president, Mehbooba Mufti, departed for New Delhi this afternoon to attend the meeting tomorrow. (KNO)
