NC President Condemns Kishtwar Attack, Calls for Centre’s Action

   

SRINAGAR: National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Monday condemned a stone-pelting incident in Kishtwar that reportedly targeted a mosque and madrassa, urging the central government to instruct states to prevent violence against religious institutions.

Reacting to the attack, Abdullah acknowledged the presence of malicious elements, stating, “Evil exists and will do its work. But India is a secular country, where the Constitution allows all religions to operate their institutions. It is up to the Centre to guide the states to stop this.”

Abdullah also highlighted the importance of India–Bangladesh cooperation following the upcoming elections in Bangladesh. “I hope New Delhi and the new government in Bangladesh will open new avenues for collaboration,” he said.

On Kashmir situation, Abdullah expressed hope that the New Year would bring peace, reduce suffering, and boost tourism in the region.
