National Conference on Monday paid glowing tributes to Late Party Leader and Former Minister Shaheed Mushtaq Ahmed Lone on his 15 Death Anniversary. Highlighting Late Lone’s contributions to the party and the people of the State, National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah said Late Muhstaq Ahmed Lone’s legacy was that of service and sacrifice and would go on to inspire people for a long time to come.

Paying tribute to Lone, NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah said Late Mushtaq Ahmed Lone was a man of the masses and his selflessness needed to be emulated in letter and spirit. “Mushtaq Ahmed Lone laid down his life serving his people and serving the cause of democracy in J&K. We did not get deterred by his assassination and pledged to carry forward the process of democracy in the State. In his sacrifice we found inspiration to carry on at a very turbulent time and today we all pay our respects to Lone Sahib on his 15th death anniversary”, NC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah said in a statement.

NC Working President Omar Abdullah has also paid tributes to Late Mushtaq Ahmed Lone on his 15th Death Anniversary and said the party had lost a dedicated and selfless leader in Mushtaq Ahmed Lone and that his assassination highlighted the sacrifices rendered by National Conference to uphold democracy and normalcy in J&K. “I pay my heartfelt tributes to Late Lone Sahab on his 15th death anniversary. It is because of sacrifices like these that normalcy could return to J&K and we should always remember these brave martyrs and the role they played in standing up for empowerment and peace”, Omar Abdullah said in a message on the late Leader’s 15th Death Anniversary.

On this occasion, a commemorative function was organized at Lolab, Kupwara where rich tributes were paid to the departed leader. Those who spoke on the occasion including Senior Leader and Former Member of Parliament Sharif-ud-din Shariq and NC District President Kupwara and MLC Qaiser Jamsheed Lone besides party functionaries and office bearers. Later the party leaders led a peace march to Tehsil Office Lolab in solidarity with the Muslim minority Rohingyas  of Rakhine State in Myanmar who were facing the worst form of genocide and persecution.

Rich tributes were paid at National Conference Head Office ‘Nawa-e-Subha’ in Srinagar in a commemorative meeting chaired by Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar. Those who spoke at the commemorative meeting at paid glowing tributes to Late Mushtaq Ahmed Lone included NC Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, Senior Leaders Muhammad Sayeed Akhoon, Muhstaq Ahmed Guroo, Salman Sagar, Showkat Ahmed Mir, Imran Nabi Dar and several party activists.
