Panic gripped Shopian’s Naazneen Pora area when unidentified gunman Sunday evening fired upon 38-year-old Sarpanch resulting in his on spot death.
Identified as Muhammad Sultan Bhat, son of Abdul Rehman Bhat and affiliated with ruling National Conference, locals told Kashmir Life that he was shot from point blank range near his house in Naazempora. Locals further said that near the spot of killing uniformed men were seen.
Superintendent of Police Shopian Abdul Waheed Shah confirmed the death of Muhammad Sultan Bhat. Police and paramilitary forces have rushed to the spot and cordoned off the entire area.
