The headquarter of ruling National Conference (NC), Nawa-e-Subh is paying the pending power dues to the state power department within the period of one week , PDD officials told KNS on Friday.

The Power Development Department (PDD) had on December 24 issued notice to Nawa-i-Subh, asking it to clear the pending electricity dues within a period of 15-days failing which power supplies shall be snapped to it.

The reports Friday informed that the NC Headquarter has issued the Cheque in favour of PDD, asking the department to clear the pending dues at the earliest.

The Chief Engineer PDD, Bashir Ahmad Khan told KNS that there was some ‘dispute’ about the amount that Nawa-i-Subh had to pay to the department. “There used to be a printing press at Nawa-i-Subh and the separate power connection was issued to that. The press later was closed and the connection was surrendered. Now the department has taken cognizance of the matter and the issue almost resolved.”

The CE PDD maintained further that the Nawa-i-Subh is clearing the pending dues and the department is ascertaining the final amount. “They has even readied the cheque for paying the dues. We expect that the dues will be cleared by this week only.”

When asked about the status of the power restoration after the recent snowfall, Khan informed that the power supply has been to all districts of valley at large and that there are few far flung areas wherein massive snowfall was witnessed and the department is yet to restore power there due to the inaccessibility to the areas. “Power has been restored in all major districts including Srinagar, we have some areas of Anantnag, high reaches of Kulgam and Shopian where the work for the restoration is going on with full swing.”
