The ruling coalition partner, National Conference (NC) is keeping a close vigil over the announcement of the assembly elections with the party leadership keeping the 4th list of its candidates in limbo- maintaining that same would be issued once poll dates are announced.

Sources within the ruling NC told KNS that the party leadership is making all efforts to field the chief minister Omar Abdullah from Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal. Earlier Omar was reportedly reluctant to contest from Ganderbal. “Most probably Omar will contest from Ganderbal. The decision at large within the party is being supported after the floods and the creation on new administrative units. Ganderbal has got a good share of these new units and party believes that Omar enjoys much support from the turf,” sources told KNS, adding that the 4th list will include Omar’s name as well with possibility of him contesting from Ganderbal.

It was informed that the party has not yet announced the names of its candidates in view of the possibility of polls getting delayed. “The party had all its concentration over the relief measures being taken post floods. It didn’t hold any meet over the finalization of the 4th list of the party candidates. Now when poll dates could be announced any time, NC will make the list public in a very near future,” sources revealed.
