In an interesting turn to unionist political events in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference on Monday expressed its gratitude towards the people of the Valley, various trade bodies, transporters, shopkeepers and civil society groups for making the Kashmir Bandh a huge success.
NC State Spokesperson while congratulating the people on behalf of the party for uniting for an apolitical and common cause of justice said, “a ‘loud and resounding’ message of disappointment, anguish and resentment had been sent to both the Union Government and the State Government through today’s shutdown.”
“This is perhaps for the first time that various groups professing different political ideologies have come together to support a common-cause of justice. Today’s shutdown should make the PDP-BJP Government aware of the seething anger and anti-incumbency in the State. They should come out of their delusions and see the writing on the wall. The people of this State are unified in their opposition to this incompetent, cruel and anti-people Government that has failed on every front and especially on the front of Flood Victim Rehabilitation,” NC Spokesperson said in a party statement.
Condemning the arrest of Trade Associations’ Leaders, activists and flood victims, the NC Spokesperson said, “this was perhaps the most shameful thing the PDP-BJP Government could have done on the first anniversary of the 2014 floods.” “Was this the ‘revival day’ of the Mufti Government? Or by arresting traders and flood victims did he mean he would ‘revive’ his brutal, dictatorial ways of 1989? Shame on Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and shame on this excuse of a Government. Rather than heeding to the pain and suffering of the flood victims, Mufti Sayeed ordered their arrests in nocturnal raids. Nothing could be a more poignant example of this Government’s cruelty,” the NC Spokesperson further stated.
“We have reiterated our support to the Flood Victims today and will struggle and strive with them till the day the last flood victim is rehabilitated with utmost dignity and respect. Our party continues to treat Flood Victim Rehabilitation as a topmost priority and we will continue to raise our voice against the criminal, ruthless indifference of the Central and the State Governments towards the Flood Victims.”
