The restrictions were enforced earlier this week to contain violence and maintain public order after clashes erupted between security forces and demonstrators. With the situation reported to be under control, movement has now been restored, though security deployment remains in place to prevent further disturbances.

Local officials said the decision to lift the curfew was taken after reviewing ground reports and assessing that normalcy had largely returned. However, they urged citizens to maintain calm and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure peace is sustained, as per NDTV report.

The development came a day after former Chief Justice Sushila Karki on Friday became Nepal’s first woman prime minister to lead an interim government, ending days of political uncertainty after the KP Sharma Oli dispensation was forced to quit in the face of a nationwide agitation triggered by a social media ban..

Cleaning drives were launched at several places, including key government buildings that were vandalised and set on fire by agitators during the recent wave of violent protests.
