Additionally, the department stated that it would reduce power curtailment, especially during Suhoor and Iftar times.

Chief Engineer KPDCL (Distribution) Sandeep Seth said that they are planning and devising a mechanism to address power curtailment issues for Ramadan. “We are working on it and most likely, the new curtailment schedule will be implemented from the first day of Ramadan.”

When asked about improving power curtailment during peak hours, the Chief Engineer said, “During Ramadan, the peak hours will be pre-dawn and dusk. We are considering improving power curtailment, especially during Suhoor and Iftar.”

In late February, amid frequent power outages and distressing cuts across the Kashmir valley, the Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) stated that it was facing a power shortage of nearly 400 Megawatts (MW).

An official from KPDCL mentioned, “Currently, we do not have sufficient power available. KPDCL is currently facing an electricity shortage.”

The official added, “There is a shortage of nearly 300-400 Megawatts. Due to the power shortage, some areas in Kashmir may experience distressing cuts and unscheduled outages.”—(KNO)
