The protesters were holding placards and banners carrying messages like ‘say no to drugs’, ‘Life Does Not Rewind’  and ‘save the youth.’

The protest was held to raise the issue of alarming use of drugs by the youngsters which is snatching precious lives.

“We request all the parents to remove the gap and counsel their children at home as nobody can counsel children better than their parents,” said Mudasir Aziz, one of the protester.

He said that the government is also responsible for it because a lot of people take drugs due to unemployment.

He also hailed the Jammu and Kashmir Police for playing a good role in preventing drug addiction but said that more needs to be done.

“We want drug abuse to end in the state and the youth addicted to drugs should be treated at the de-addiction centre and motivated to shun the drug menace. Drug abuse is snatching a lot of precious lives while drug smugglers are minting money. All this need to end,” said the protesters.

The protesters requested the Governor Satya Pal Malik, to take strict action against those involved in drug smuggling.
