SRINAGAR: National Highway-244, the key road linking Batote, Doda and Kishtwar, was reopened for one-way traffic on Wednesday after overnight restoration work following the flash flood triggered by a cloudburst in the upper reaches of Thathri in Doda district, officials said.
Officials said road clearance operations continued throughout the night, enabling the partial restoration of vehicular movement on the highway. Traffic authorities have advised commuters to adhere to official advisories while travelling on the route.
Restoration and debris clearance operations are continuing in the affected areas of Thathri, where the flash flood caused extensive damage to property and infrastructure.
Several vehicles and shops remain buried under large mounds of debris brought down by the floodwaters, while teams are engaged in clearing the affected areas and assessing the extent of the damage.
The cloudburst struck the upper reaches of Thathri on Tuesday, triggering flash floods that swept through parts of the town, disrupting normal life and damaging roads, commercial establishments and vehicles.
