Doctors Association Kashmir on Wednesday held an emergency meeting of executive members under the chairmanship of Dr GM Mir, President Doctors Association Kashmir.

According to a statement of DAK, it was decided that the pen down strike given by employees of National Health Mission (NHM) is nothing but the helplessness the agonised employees are going through as there seems to be no end to their miseries. “The NHM employees have been pushed to the wall and are being compelled to take the extreme step,” it said.

In the meeting, it was decided that DAK will support all genuine demands which the NHM employees have already put forward to the govt.

An Executive member of DAK said that the govt has been showing step-motherly treatment towards them and on the contrary, the employees of NHM are the backbone of the health department.

“They are working with utmost dedication but unfortunately on a meagre salary which have led all the employees into a state of depression thus affecting their families.”

A spokesperson of DAK said that the govt should frame a regularisation policy the way it has been done for SRO-255 recruited employees, Rehbar-e-Zirat Technocrats and other state recruited contractual employees.

DAK also appeals Govt. to implement Hon’ble Supreme Court’s significant verdict, ‘equal pay for equal work’ till a regularisation policy is framed by the govt on fast track basis.
