SRINAGAR: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried raids at the residence of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik, chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Shabir Shah, Masarat Alam Bhat, Ashraf Sehrai, Zafar Akbar Bhat and Naseem Geelani.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday raided the Maisuma residence of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Muhammad Yasin Malik.

NIA spokesman in a statement said, “On 26.02.2019, NIA carried out searches at 07 locations in Srinagar in connection with an investigation of J&K Terror Funding case.”

“These included premises belonging to top separatist leaders namely Yasin Malik, Chairman JKLF, Shabbir Shah, President JKDFP, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Chairman Awami Action Committee, Mohammad Ashraf Khan Chairman Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Masarat Alam, General Secretary APHC, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Chairman JKSM and Naseem Geelani, son of Sayeed Ali Shah Geelani,” said the spokesman.

The spokesman in a statement said, “NIA teams were accompanied by CRPF and Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel.”

“During the searches, NIA teams recovered incriminating documents including property papers, financial transactions receipts and bank account details. Electronic devices including laptops, e-tablets, mobile phones, pen drives, communication system and DVRs were also seized during the searches,” NIA spokesman said in a statement.

“Significantly, letterheads of different terrorist organisations, as well as documents relating to recommendations for visa for admission in Pakistan educational Institutions, were found,” he said.

“A high tech internet communication set up was also recovered from the residence of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq,” said NIA spokesman in a statement.
