SRINAGAR: There was slight rise in night temperature across Kashmir valley with famous tourist resort Pahalgam in south Kashmir recording minus 2.0°C, officials said on Wednesday.

An official of the Meteorological Department (MeT) said that the minimum temperature rose above the freezing point in Srinagar today due to cloud cover. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 0.3 degrees Celcius against minus 2.3 on the previous night.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 0.6 degrees Celcius against the previous night’s minus 2.2°C, the official said.

Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 2.0°C against minus 4.4°C on the previous night, he said.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a minimum of minus 0.1°C against minus 1.1°C on the previous night, the official said.

Kupwara town of the north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.3°C against minus 3.0°C on the previous night, the official said.

Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 0.0°C against the previous night’s minus 0.6, the official said.

Jammu city had 10.2, Katra 8.8, Batote 5.2, Banihal 1.2 and Bhaderwah 2.6 as the minimum temperature.

The MeT office has forecast mainly dry weather over Jammu and Kashmir till November 30.
