Senior BJP leader Sunil Kumar Sharma said they would not allow any unconstitutional, undemocratic, or anti-national resolution, question, or bill in the House. “During the all-party meet, I urged the Speaker that he should not allow any such activity and should run the House impartially,” he said.

Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather chaired the all-party meeting on Thursday morning to seek cooperation from political parties for the smooth functioning of the House during the budget session.

Speaker urged members to ensure that the Question Hour is not disrupted, as it is crucial for holding the government accountable. Participants in the meeting requested the Speaker to allocate adequate time for raising public issues.

MLA Rajouri Muzaffar Iqbal Khan said the meeting discussed ways to ensure the smooth functioning of the House. “There was an agreement among all parties that there would be no disruptions and that the executive would be held accountable to the legislature,” he said.

The meeting was attended by Sunil Sharma and Surjit Singh Salathia of the BJP, Mubarak Gul of the NC, Ghulam Ahmad Mir of the Congress, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami of the CPI(M), Waheed-ur-Rehman Para of the PDP, and independent MLA Muzaffar Iqbal Khan.
