Authorities have decided against continuing curfew in parts of Srinagar after the situation improved after two days of continuous curfew restrictions. Deployments, however, shall remain in sensitive areas.

A senior police officer speaking on the condition of anonymity said there will not be any curfew restrictions in the city on Saturday. The decision was taken at a high level review meeting Friday night. He offered no details.

Curfew was imposed in areas of the old city falling under nine police stations Tuesday evening after a series of small incidents that had the potential of disturbing overall peace. No relaxation was permitted in any of the areas for two days and the situation improved.
