No Electricity In Parts Of Srinagar As Major Grid Develops Fault

SRINAGAR:  Most of the areas of Srinagar city are without electricity after a fault developed at Zainakot grid. This has triggered a serious panic in families having patients on Oxygen concentrators.

Leading NGO SRO Kashmir actively working on Covid-19, tweeted: “There is a power outage in many areas of Srinagar city. Family members of patients on Oxygen Concentrator support should immediately borrow generators from neighbors or friends. We are getting deluged by frantic calls.”

While responding to the tweet, Hashmat Qazi who served as Chief Engineer PDD wrote: “A fault at Zainakot Grid resulted in trippings of major grids around Srinagar. Men are job and restoring. Should take another hour or so for restoration of most of the areas Inshallah.”

The Kashmir Power Discom Limited while responding posted a screenshot of a tweet put out by JKPTCL (Kashmir) which read, “220 kV Wagoora -Zainakot TL  went off due to E/F  due to its cascading effect Alustang GSS & GSS Budgam went OFF as well . Men on job in restoration it might take an Hr to stablize the whole power, system inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.”

As per reports, “work has been started to repair fault, partial restoration of electricity will be made within one hour”  Chief Engineer KPDCL said.

Srinagar city that tops the 20-district chart in infections is managing more than 90 per cent of Covid19 patients at home.
