Negating certain press reports regarding hike in pay scales and perks of legislators, the spokesperson of the Assembly Secretariat termed these as flimsy and exaggerated.
The spokesman said that no hike has been ordered in the salaries of the Legislators. “The enhancement of annual expenditure for Air travel from Rs.50, 000 to 1, 00,000 was overdue because of the hike in Air fare. Similarly, increase in the remuneration of the PAs from Rs.3000 to Rs.6000 for performing their duties round the clock is also justified,” he said.
The spokesman further stated that as far as CDF of Rs. 1.50 crore is concerned it is only for developmental purposes and there are strict guidelines laid down which govern the investment and no personal benefit accrues to the Legislators out of this amount, “the funds of CDF affect remain always at the disposal of the District Development Commissioners,” he added.
