SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday told the Legislative Assembly that it has no plan to raise the monthly honorarium of Numberdars and Chowkidars in the Union Territory.
At present, Numberdars are paid Rs 1,501 per month, while Chowkidars receive Rs 1,500. The government said the honorarium was last revised in 2016 after a Cabinet decision taken on April 27 that year.
During the revision, the monthly payment for Numberdars was increased from Rs 751 to Rs 1,501, and for Chowkidars from Rs 750 to Rs 1,500. The government clarified that no proposal is currently under consideration to further enhance the honorarium for either group.
