In a statement, the department said MA Road and routes through Mamta Chowk, Jahangir Chowk, Ikhwan Chowk and Radio Kashmir Crossing were open to normal traffic by 8:30 am.

Traffic on Boulevard Road towards Nishat was restored at 10:15 am, when some JKSET candidates were also permitted to travel from Nishat towards Dalgate, the statement said.

The only remaining diversion was at Habak Crossing towards Nishat, which was lifted at 11:45 am, it added.

Rejecting claims of traffic congestion, the department said the arrangements involved planned and publicly announced diversions to facilitate the large-scale event.

Traffic Police said measures were implemented in phases to maintain the flow of vehicles while minimising inconvenience to examination candidates and the general public.

The department reiterated its commitment to ensuring the smooth conduct of major events while facilitating the movement of students and other commuters.
