In a statement, the police said that a video is circulating on social media alleging that the police conducted a Lathi charge on Yatris. However, the news is completely fabricated and baseless.

According to a police spokesperson, as per the traffic advisory that has already been issued and shared in the public domain, no Yatri/tourist vehicles are allowed to move after the cut-off time (i.e., when the ROP is withdrawn) and will be accommodated at the nearest designated safe location for the safety and security of the tourists and Yatris. When the cut-off was being implemented, some people blocked the National Highway and insisted on being allowed to go further.

Meanwhile, an ambulance carrying a critical patient was stopped by them. They were requested to cooperate and allow the ambulance.

Considering the situation, the police cleared the way for the ambulance and saved the life of the patient. Some individuals with vested interests are trying to tarnish the image of the police by reporting fake and fabricated news. Such news portals will be dealt with according to the law, he said.

As a tradition, the police have been welcoming the Yatris with open arms and are committed to their safety and security. The question of misbehavior does not arise, reads the statement. (GNS)
