The India and Pakistan forces on Thursday continued to exchange fire and mortars along Line of Control and International Border.

According to GNS, the firing which started four days ago has so far claimed eight Indian and nine Pakistani lives on both the sides while thousands of people living near the border have fled to escape shelling and firing.

The ongoing clashes have been termed by many locals as worst since 1971, reports said.

The Border Security Force (BSF) officials said the Pakitan shelled Akhnoor, Arnia, Kananachak and few other areas along IB. Reports said that Pakistan shelled over 50 BSF posts in Jammu region while few army posts were also targeted. Five civilians were reported injured in the firing and were immediately rushed to hospitals.

“We are giving befitting reply to unprovoked firing and shelling by Pakistan,” a BSF official said.
