The assurance came amid apprehensions about a proposed hike in the existing surcharge on electricity consumption during peak morning and evening hours.

In a post shared by the Chief Minister’s Office on X, it was stated that for 2025–26 there would be no general revision of power tariffs in Jammu and Kashmir, and that the Time of Day (ToD) tariff would also remain unchanged.

The Chief Minister said the government remains committed to public welfare and is focused on keeping electricity affordable for consumers.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited had approached the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission, seeking an increase in the current 20 per cent surcharge imposed on electricity usage during peak hours.
