The police on Wednesday said the investigations into the fresh attacks on mobile towers in North Kashmir have been ordered and soon it will be ascertained which militant group is behind such attacks.

“We have ordered the investigations. We are yet to reach out to the conclusion that whether it is the same group which had carried attacks on cellular towers in the past or not. Once the investigations conclude we will be able to come out with the latest details,” Inspector General Police (IGP) Kashmir Syed Javid Mujtaba Gilani told KNS.

Over the reports of police detaining the underage boys in the cases of stone pelting, Kashmir Police Chief said that action is being taken against anyone who is found violating the law and disturbing the law and order situation. “Police arrest the person who is found involved in stone pelting. It is later the legal process of the each case to certify whether the detainee is under 18 or above that age group. ”

The IGP said police are taking action as per the law and it is later the legal procedure which is being followed. He maintained that there is no proposal to free the youth ahead of Eid, who were detained earlier for pelting stones during protests. “We have no such proposal to release any detainee on Eid. It is the legal procedure which is followed in each case. Action is being taken as per the law,” IGP said.

He said that to maintain law and order in the region, adequate security arrangements have been put in place and no one shall be allowed to disturb the law and order.
