There is no proposal for the up-gradation of schools for this year while no school was upgraded last year, government informed the house Tuesday.

In a written reply by education minister Naeem Akhtar in legislative assembly, the government stated that during last two years total of 150 schools have been upgraded, that include 40 primary schools and 110 middle schools.

However all these schools were upgraded in 2014-15 while no school has been updated in 2015-16.

“In October, 2014 the school education department issued government order no. 737-Edu of 2014 Dated 22-10-2014 up-grading 448 MS and 332 HS to HSS level,” the documents state, “The said order was issued in disregard to the conditional approval of the cabinet decision in circulation i.e  without seeking concurrence of the planning and Finance  Department.”

However the order is being re-examined due to number of factual inaccuracies and infirmities noticed.

“Preliminary reports suggest that only 80 schools out of 800 are qualifying for up-gradation,” the documents mention.
