JAMMU: The Government has exempted import and export of construction material into and out of the Jammu and Kashmir from toll payment, an official spokesman said.
As the National Green Tribunal recently banned mining of minor minerals in J&K due to lack of environment clearances of the majority of the blocks, construction materials like sand, bajri, gravel etc. became scarce and consequently hampered the construction activities all across J&K.
The shortage also impacted the prices of these materials. Government’s move to facilitate the toll-free availability of the construction material from outside the UT is likely to come in as a huge relief to the people and help construction activities continue apace since the construction material will now be available at lower prices.
