No traditional Eid greeting on borders, instead armies trade heavy fire

Doing away with the traditional greeting on Eid at borders, gun blaze was all around on Sunday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district. Reports said Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy fire amid heightened tensions on borders.

Defence Ministry sources said heavy shelling and firing started between the two armies in Mendhar and Mankote areas.

“After the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing at Indian positions, the Indian military retaliated strongly and effectively,” an official said. “Shelling and firing exchanges are going on.”
