SRINAGAR: A non-local labourer drowned in the Jhelum River in the Padgampora Awantipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, despite being rescued by his colleagues.

According to an official, the non-local labourer, identified as Ajar, son of Hakeem Din and a resident of Divakar Delhi, drowned in the Jhelum River at Padgampora Awantipora, Pulwama.

However, his colleagues acted promptly and rescued him, after which he was taken to PHC Awantipora. Later, he was referred to SMHS Srinagar for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the police have taken note of the incident and initiated an investigation. (KS)
