As the braid chopping spree worsens across Kashmir, in a fresh incident of mistaken-identity, three guests were late Tuesday evening thrashed by residents in Shalla Bugh area ahead of Ganderbal district.

Police sources said that three non-local guests travelling from Delhi were driving to Ganderbal to attend a friend.

The guests were stopped at Shalla Bugh, 4 kms ahead of Ganderbal, and mistaken as braid choppers. “The guests were thrashed and their vehicle was damaged by the mob.”

Upon questioning it came to fore that the trio was on way to visit their friend Ajaz Ahmad Shah a resident of Ganderbal, police sources said.

Police immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the guests and provided them necessary medical aid.

Meanwhile, the local Police have taken cognizance of the incident and a case of “rumour mongering” has been registered in this regard, he said.
