SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti has called for an all-party meeting in light of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Hirdesh Kumar’s announcement that non-locals living ordinarily in J&K can register their names in the voting list.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar Mehbooba Mufti said she had spoken to National Conference President Dr Farooq and have urged him to call an all-party meeting including those who we disagree with so that we can chalk out a future course of action.

“Allowing non-locals to vote here in J&K is the last nail in the coffin of electoral democracy here. J&K has become a laboratory for the BJP,” Mehbooba said. “A Muslim majority state chose India, they wanted to be part of secular India but people have lost confidence in voting.”

“They spend crores on de-radicalisation and then resort to acts that radicalse our youth. Brothers form Kashmir Pandit community is being killed, Police and security forces personnel are being killed, and everybody is suffering,” she said.

“I am talking to nationalists who fought for the freedom of the country and not those who sought maafi from the British government, nothing in the country is happening in the national interest, everything is happening for BJP’s interest,” she added.

Mehbooba said that BJP’s sole aim is to form governments everywhere in the country by any means.

“They want to ensure entry of 25 lakh voters of BJP from backdoor into J&K and install a fascist ruler here,” she said. “BJP wants to make this county a ‘BJP Rashtra’ not a ‘Hindu Rashtra’.

She also pitched for the unity among all and said that after 2024 elections, BJP like the abrogation of Article 370 in J&K, will remove the constitution of India and replace the tricolour with ‘Bhaghwa flag’.

Similarly, voting rights to the non-locals is aimed at conducting fraud elections to allow the BJP fascist local to rule here. “They have understood that after three years of rule in J&K, they couldn’t break the resistance of silent people.”

“The situation is not different for Muslims only, but for every community including Dogra, Pandit as well,” she said, adding that the BJP despite beating the drums for Kashmiri Pandits, failed to ensure ease to them in casting the ballots and in the result of which they have now stopped voting.

“Despite spending a hefty amount for deradicalization, the decisions are being taken that will certainly radicalize the youth. The government cannot change the ground reality, but it needs to resolve the issue once for all,” she said.
