Srinagar: Noorbagh’s, 30 bedded Maternity and Childcare Hospital, named after Kashmir’s adorned poetess Habba Khatoon sans basic facilities. Since its inception, the hospital has never seen any up gradation and continues to be in a poor state of affairs.
This is the only health facility that caters the basic health facilities for the entire area. But it’s bad governance and poor infrastructure that plunges the locals into a plethora of miseries. The hospital is functioning with just two doctors and a lone OPD ward.
Due to lack of specialised doctors, the patients arriving from the far-off areas are suffering immensely, “the hospital has a potential to be a good one but it remains without proper staff and facilities all the time,” said a local resident Sajad Bhat. Except OPD ward rest remains locked,” he added.
Residents said that even after the ten years its establishment authorities have failed to complete the work. Although it has a huge building but there is nothing to help patients,” said another resident Bilal Dar.
However, when Kashmir Life contacted Chief Medical Officer District Srinagar, Dr Talat Jabeen she said that she was not well informed about the condition of the hospital, “I will resolve the issue as soon as possible and would not let the people suffer more.”
